You guys know I'm a huge fan of Cigars and of course Macs. Part of my ritual before a show like this is to order some fine cigars. I usually do this thorugh the net at Cigar.com
This time I got some Olivas Series V and my daily small cigar Hoyo De Montery Excalibur. So I'm ready to go. I need to enjoy at least one with Andrew Welch (El Presidente ) over at Ambrosia
If you are going to be at Macworld, look me up and join me for a cigar.
Since I'm NOT using the Social Networks anymore except for Twitter and Flickr. I am going to start using this blog a lot more to share my own stuff.
Don't expect a quite, non profane, or fair and balanced Victor. This is a let all the stops out, just tell what's on my mind opportunity and I'm going to take it.
Let's see what happens.
Spent a good part of the day today composing a Motion Logo for my Friends In Tech group. This way I can use this on the screencasts, videocasts etc. Also other FIT Members can use it too.
You can see a long video of me going through the learning of this application over at my UStream
It's not fun when an Earthquake gets this close to your house. We are all alright but got a pretty good Jolt at 10:39 AM PT.
It's center was only 2.2 miles from our house in Riverside County. That's as close as I have been to one. It felt like you were in an elevator and it dropped a floor. Hopefully that's it and it was not a Precursor to a bigger one.
Well I'm going to try and experiment (test) the new Talkshoe service.
Let's do a live Typical Mac User podcast and chat on Sunday at 8:30 PM EST (30 to 45 Minutes or so), right before many of you go to the Technorama Podcast chat room to listen to Chuck and Kreg. Heck I can be their warm-up act.
Click the Talkshoe badge below to go to my shows profile. You will need to SIGN UP for the service, and you will call in to the show via a regular telephone. You can even use Skype to call in ( so there is no toll).
I hope to see some of you there, if not the Crickets and I will have fun! . If it works out I may make this a regular Sunday night thing.
If you have subjects you want to discuss, let me know by tomorrow at typicalmacuser@gmail.com
David Malan from Harvard's Understanding Computers and the Internet was nice enough to ask me to speak during his class about how to start a podcast. I just finished using Skype (Video and Audio) and it was a blast. Check out their web-site Harvard's Understanding Computers and the Internet where he will have a video of it soon. Thanks
David, that's probably as close as I will ever get to going to Harvard. How cool was this!
We will Never Forget
So just another reason why podcasting is so cool. I just got to help out Denise Howell from the Sandwich Domanatirx Blog as well as well as the Bag and Baggage Blog and many others. She is getting ready to do a show with Leo Laport ( of TWIT Fame). Steve Holden from Tech News Radio Podcast, told me that she needed some assistance doing her Skype recording and that Denise and I had similar Mackie Onyx Boards.
I called her on the phone and she had already figured out 99% of the entire deal thanks to this article. Anyway to make a long story, longer, we had a very nice chat, I explained some foundational things about audio and getting gain correct on the Mackie and how and why we need AUX 1 and AUX 2.
Bottom line she was able to record a live Skype cal between her and I, and I think she is ready. The Coooool part is how in the podcasting community people that have never met each other (Like Denise and I ) can come together with a common goal in a matter of minutes and produce something that will eventually be of value to the everyone in the Podsphere. No egos, no bias , just people helping other people produce content. It's a beautiful thing man, it just is.
Well, I Guess you like Talkshoe™ since you've been doing a show there for quite a while.. And It's A... read more
